BANGKOK HAUNTED (Thailand)

Thailand. Not a place I figured I'd find as interesting as I do now... especially after seeing photos a friend who's been several times. I figured it was almost like India. And in some respects it is, but this fim is special. This isn't your ordinary triptych of scary stories. This an offering from the Pang Brothers. Danny and Oxide Pang of The Eye and The Eye 2 fame. Welcome to Bangkok Haunted. These three stories, do give the viewer some really creepy thoughts to mull over long after it's over... I will give very brief tellings here, because their shortness can give away the movie by going too deep into it's description. It's just one DVD you'll have to BUY. I've not seen ANY Blockbuster, West Coast Video, or any video store that actually RENTS this movie.

Story One: Legend Of the Drum - A dealer of antiquities happens upon a drum, which is percieved to be ancient learns that some secrets should never be told. Especially when it may involve the dead.

Story Two: Black Magic - A very attractive young girl is awakened by her neighbor's sexual escapades late one night. The next morning she confronts her only to find the middle-aged woman all to eager to share her secret. She tells her of an aphrodisiac that will make any man fall in love with whomever has this potion applied to the skin. What she doesn't know, is that the grip is all too tight on those who do recieve it... and where does this stuff come from anyway?

Story Three: Revenge - This is the story of a policeman who can't seem to unravel the case he's currently on, and learns that he's more involved than he ever thought imaginable. Was it suicide? Homicide? Vengence? Revenge? This is one is so well played out, it must be seen to be believed.

overal movie rating:

7 out of 10

I was skeptical about getting this one at first, but when I bought it, and watched it. I felt more at ease that I didn't get a "wannabe-ringu-esque" movie. There's a definite mood about these three stories, and I am impressed with their lighting, the tones used in the movie. The ending? Man, I didn't see that coming either! You'll really like this one. Let me know if you do too!
