Prepare to be REALLY creeped out with the original Japanese version of PULSE.
PULSE (Japan)

This is a very quiet film.  Not silent, quiet.  It has these moments that will make you jump.  But what makes this film so creepy is it's a very desolate piece.  You wouldn't think that Tokyo would be a DESLOATE place... but this particular film is the Grandad of the Horror genre in Japan.  This was out before Ringu.

Pulse begins with a woman on a boat out in the ocean during what looks to be a storm... but it's far from that. The next scene we see two young ladies who are working at a nursery, and waiting for their friends to show up.  When only one does, the ladies get concerned because no one's heard from him in a good while.  They call and they call... no answer.  Only one thing left to do, and that's to go see him.  The one girl goes to see him, and he's actually there, even though he doesn't answer the phone or the door.  The young girl asks him for the disk they were working on, and he points to his computer table.  She heads over to get it.  She mentions something to him, but he's not answering.  She heads to the back room where he was sitting to find him dead in such a way... oh man...

Elsewhere, a college kid who's not into computers, decides to hook up the one he got from his Dad before going away to school and goes to this website to log on.  The screen goes dark, and starts asking weird questions of him...  He immediately turns the computer off, as he thinks he's seen something he wasn't supposed to.  At school the next day, he tracks down a very lovely woman who teaches the computer classes, and inquires about the incident on his own computer.  She looks puzzled, and begins asking questions, and offers to help figure out what's wrong....

Like I said, this movie travels kind of slow, but if you consider the use of colors, how the movie is lit, and the constantly creeping dread, then you'll understand why the movie is as scary as it is.  It's one of those ones that you won't EVER forget.  There are some scenes in here, that you'll swear are  real, and others that will have you turning on lights all over your house. This is a film for those over 21, not due to nudity or swearing because there is none. It's the IMAGERY that will have you wishing for an exit.  Don't miss this one if you REALLY like horror movies.
